In addition, st~ff recommends that council authorize the City Manager or his designee to execute one or mOre change orders to the contract with Casey construction fer additional related but unforeseen work. The value c-f the$e change orders shail not exceed $17,000. Funds for this project are aVailabl.e in the FY 91/92 Capital Improvement Program budget for Wastewater collection System Rehabilitation/Augmentation. Mgkground The existinq a-inch diameter sanitary 6e~er on El camino Way between West Meadow Drive and Maybell Avenue i& of insufficient size and slope to handle existing vastewater flows. This condition results in a maintenance problem for cur Op~rations Division as backups occur during peak floW' periods. Replacem.ent of the a-inch diameter sanitary sewer vith a lO-inch line, along with an increase of the slope, will provide the necessary capacity for the area in order to properly service the customers. project Description The proposed project viII install 1,Oa4 linear feet of new 10- inch vcp wastewater main in £1 camino Way between West Meadow Drive and Maybell Avenue. ~luation The project was sent out for competitive bid. Bids were received from ten qualified bidders on March 31, 1992, as indicated on the -" o att~ched bid sUMMary. to a high of $168,$92. $128,168. The bids ranged from a low of $113,316.40 The estimate of our engineer ~as The lovest responsible bidder vas casey cons~ruction. Statf finds the low bidde~ to be qualified to perfo~ the ~ork. RecompendatlQ(!s Staff reco=mends th3t Council: 1. Authorize the Mayor to execute the attached contract with Casey Construction, in the a!:!Q'.lnt ot $1l3,316.40 for replacement of the Sanitary Sewer on El Camino Way; and 2.
