No Council action is required. l·ckg.r0Ylld section 832.7 of the California Penal Code authorizes the releas~ of data regarding the number # type or disposition of complaints (sustained, not sustained, exonerated, or unfounded) made aqainst police Department personnel, if that infor.mation is in a form which does not identify the individuals involved. The following report is issued in conformance ~ith the above provisions and is a summary of all citizens' complaints received and investigated by the Palo Alto Police Department curing the first calendar quarter of 1992. A total of 30 ~omplaints ~ere received during this quarter (January-March 1992). Twenty-three ~nvesti9ations have been con­ cluded. Seven complain+.s are still outstanding and wi 11 be included in the second quarter report. As a matter of routine, staff attempts t.o identify other assoclateui issues that may not have been included in the initial complaint. Official corrective action (discipline, admonishment, training~ policy review) occurred in all situations .. here a. complaint was deemed sustained.
