On May ~O,. 1990, Council designated the-Intergovernmental council solid Waste committee (CoInlllittee) as the Local Task Force under AB 939 (CMR:287: 0). On February 1.1, 1992, the Santa Clara county Board of Supervisors established the Solid Waste Commission of Santa Clara county (Commission) to replace the committee. Formal adoption of this amendment requires approval by a majorIty of the cities in Santa Clara County containing a majority of the incorporated population. Discussign The attached resolution of the Board of supervisor$ of the County of Santa Clara (Attachment B) approves establishment of the Solid Waste Commission as the Local Task Force under AB 939. California Public Resources Code section 40950 requires each county in the State to convene a Local Task Force to assist in developing the city and county source reduction and recycling ele~ents and hou&ehold hazardous waste elements c-f the countywide integrated waste management plan; to prepare the countywide siti~q element; and to prepare other reports, plans and elements pursuant to the Public Resources Code requirements. The City council hereby finds that the adoption of this Resolution is not a project for purposes of the California Environmental Quality Act. SEC1'ION 2.
