Funds have been appropriat ed in tha Facilities Mallagement i.)ivision FY 91-92 operating bud-get an<:! CIP 19004. Discu"sicn As part of this capital improvement project~ the Rinconada Pool filtration system was replaced in 199G to meet new health code standards. Replacement of the present gas chlorination system with a non-gaseous chlorine ge~eration system will meet new state and uniform fire code regulations. Bids were received from four qualified contractors as shown on the attached summary. Staff recommends that the base bid of $50,e80, submitted by The Pool Scene, Inc., be ceter.nined by Council to be the lowest responsible bid and that the cor:tract be awarded accordingly~ This bid is 2 perc~nt above the engineer's estimate of $50,000. Add Alternate 1 is not recommended due to the high bias received. It provided tor more specific cont~ol and monitor ing of the individual pools, but is not essential to the effective operation of the system as a ... ·hole. ~_ati9nS Staff ~ecommends that Council: 1. Approve and construction of $50,880. replacement.
