Report in Brief
This. report requests. Council approval of the attached contract v.ith Mid-Peninsula Access
Corporation (!>!PAC) for cablecasting Cil)' Council, City Counol Commitlees, Planning
Commission, and Utility Commission meetings over the Government Access Channel 16. Funds
are provided in the 1991-92 Information Resources Departm<nt operational budget.
Badground
As a part of the Cable francbL<;e issued in March 1986, tbe City Council designated !>!PAC as the
COIJLTnunity Access Organization to assist the joint powers in bringing ~omrnunity progranuning to
the service area. b Septe",ber 1989. !>!PAC began cablecasting the City of Palo Alto Council
meetings and in December 1989 began cablecasting the City Df Palo Alto Planning Conunission
meetings.
In FY 1990-91 the City CounCIl approved a contract with MPAC to cab!ccast City Council, City
Council Committees (Finance and PublicWofks, Poli..:)' andProcedures.). and Plamting Commission
meetings held in the Council Chambers and Council Conference Room" ':Jp to 600 hours for
$45,000.
Staff recommends that Council authorize the Mayor to execute the attached contract v.ith MPAC
{O< cableca.<ting services .. described in Exhlbit A, up to 600 hours for $45,000, to be paid in 12
monthly payments of $3,750.

Any special meetings as requested by the Palo Alto City Council or PaJo Alto City Manager,
that are held in the City CouncH C1Iarnbers or City C-ouncH Conference Room. provided five
worldng days notice is given.
Total hours of all the above are not to exceed 600 hours for the ~ompensation of 545,('00, to be
paid in 12 monthly increments of S3,750.
