Yamas Company in the amount of $254,295 for installation of an Energy Manaqement system at the Civic Center. Funds have been appropriated in CIP 190~7. Background The Palo Alto Civic Center is app~oximately 19 years old and has underqone variO".ls system modifications and improvements to the: heating, ventilating and air conditioning system that serves the building. This project will provide a central automated control system which will provide maximum performance efficiency# energy savings of approximately $50#000 annually. ;,.nd increased occupant cOllforta Discussion Bids were received from four qualified contractors as shown on the attached summary a staff recommends that the bid of $254,295, includir~ Add Alternates 1 and 2, submitted by G. J. Yamas Company be deterained by Council to be the lowest responsible bid and that the contract be «warQed accordingly a This bid is 2 percent above the engineer's estimate of $250,000. Add Alternate 1 provides for the purchase and installation of computer and software. equipment at the MUniCipal Service center (MSC) for remote control of the system. This capability will ensure immediate corrective adjustments and monitoring by Facilities Management Division staff located at the MSC without having to dispatch personnel to the -1- CKR:58S:0 o Civic Center. Add Alternate 2 will connect the Civic Center g.arage tan control to the Energy X&.nagement Syste!ll. This will consolidate all systems Bt the Energy Menagement System control console.
