As discussed during the budget retreat, staff .,,,rill be working
intensively from February through .ra.pril to prepare the City
Manager's recommended bUdget for COuncil revie ..... ~ That process
includes: refining numbers, analysis, internal reviews of proposed
budgets, and finally, the production of the b'...ldget document itself.
The Capital Improvement Program {eIP) document is expected to be
delivered to Council ~ith the packet on Thursday, March 26; the
operating budget document is scheduled for delivery on Thursday.

Council adoption date is scheduled for Monday, June 22~
This schedule leaves just over t\olO 'Weeks (June 2 to ,June 18)
between the final Committee hearing and delivery to Council of the
verbat.im minutes of that hearing. According to the city Clerk,
that is ~he minimum a~ount of time in which verbatim minutes can be
prepared. Budget". hearin()s that historically have generated
substantial discussion. such as Comr.lUni ty services, have been
scheduled earlier to allow more lead time for the City Clerk to
prepare verbatim 1'!1 irlutes.
