Frequently. visitors to the downtown area are not familiar with the different parking facilities available for their U$e~ In an effort to educate the. public about the parKing situation, the Police Department has designed a courtesy notice th~t is being placed on each vehicle that receives a citation. The idea for this notice originated with one of the downtown merchants who had seen a simi lar notice in another citya The notice suggests the best times to find s\litable parking in the downtown area and it recommends alter native modes of tr-ansportation. On the re .... erse side of the notice is a map of the downtown business district showing where public parking lots are located. Members of the public will be able to use the map to locate convenient par~inq spaces suited to their "eeds~ Conelusi2)l The flyer will aid the public in locating parking facilities in the downtown area and encourage the use of public transportation and car-pooling.
