This account is for specific purposes and it allows. for any unspent monies to be carried over atlto .. atically into subsequent fi.cal years~ In the last 12 aonths, $82,766 has been donated to Animal services for the iaprovement of facilities and for purchase of equipment for the spay and. Neuter Clinic. There is currently a balance or $86,500 in the trust fund. The largest single donation was $65,000 fra. the estate of Eda steinbrunn~ Ms .. Josephine Hayward contribu­ ted $5,GOO fer the purcbase o~ an anesthesia machine and oxyqen qenerator~ The balance of the donations ranged in Bize from $5 to $200 and was donated for the general use of the Animal services center~ proposed Equipment Purchase using donation tunds~ Animal Services staff plans to purcbase an anesthesia vaporizing ~~it for the Spay ana Neuter Clinic at an esttaated cost of $1,800. This will replace a 17 year old machine. Staff alao plans to buy an oxygen generation machine for the Spay and Heuter Clinic at a cost of $4,000. This ~evice viII allow the clinic to qenerate surqical quality oxyqen instead of purchasing bottled oJCyqe1l fro. a vendor. An addi­ tional $1~200 of donation fund. will be used tor ~be purchase of a storage cabinet fer tha qenerator and some miscellaneous 8upplies~ Staff also seeks approval to expend funds for the outfitting of the recently completed volunteer center and oftice~ Because construc­ tion costs of the buildinq were greater than expected, Capital Improvement Funds were inade.quate to acquire a records cabinet, curtaina and blinds. Estimates for these items are $8,600. An additional $5~350 will be used for stacking chairs, an undercounter retriqerator~ a movie sc.reen, sink, faucet and small water heating appliance, two side chairs and a small microwave oven to aocoamodate volunteer and public activities. Tbe construction of the new building leaves a portion of the court­ yard unlandscaped. Staff plans to re-soo and rehabilitate the portion of the courtyard in front of the volunte-t!r center and kennels, as veIl as the area behind the new buildinq. The sod that vill be planted will be the drought-resistant type that was re­ cently planted in the Civic Center Plaz&~ The cost of landscapinq theee two areas is estimated at $2,950. Staff a180 anticipates expending: funds to buy minor tools and rescue equipment for the animal control vehicles to aid in the handling of injured ani.a1s; printing expenses for an advertising and fund raising poster to benefit the Spay and Neuter Clinic; and for oftice furniture to accommodate volunteers who are assisting with the adoption of animals.
