This report is in response to the issues raised. Structural Condition The building, originally constructed in 1946, was upgraded in 1987 to meet the 1985 Unifor:ll. Building Code for earthquake forces. This work Was performed on the assumption that approval for conversion t.o a restaurant 'Would be received. Because of the structural upgrade it would not be possible to classify the buil~inq as -dangerous· as defined in PANe 16a40, Unsafe Buildinqsa Property Maintenance CUrrently, the site is unsightly and complaints have been received regardill9 the general appearance of the property. An Archltec:tural Review Board (ARBJ application is on file for redevelopment of the site and staff has not pursued property maintenance enforcement due to the pending proposal.. However .. if the project should not proceed in a timely manner. the owners will be required to improve the appearance of the site.
