This Is an informational report and no council action is required.
Palo Alto Municipal Code Sect.ion 2.30 .. 130 subsection (e) authorizes
the City Manager to award contracts foi[' supplies in e.xcess of
$25,000.. The section requires that a report of those awards be
•• die quarterly to the council. Included in this report are a
listing of all materials contr3Cts, purchase orders, and blanket
orders over $25,000 awarded fro. April 1990 through June 199~.

Blanket orders are purchase orders for materials, where a -not to
exceed-dollar liDit is established with various vendors based on
estimates. The city establishes blanY.et orders as a vehicle for
purchases J'lade on a frequent basis~ They are used by single ..
multiple and all-city departments. The explanation of the blanket
order is shown in the description area of the attached schedule.
All blanket o~der& have been listed with a July 1, 1990 award date ..
since they are in place at that time for departmental use~ The
actaal total dollar amounts are deterained by tbe departments" use
by the end of tbe fiscal year and lnay or may not equal the blanket
order li.it.
