Tbe Stadium Joint Powers Autt~rity has directed that an amendment
to the existing Joint Powers Agreement be prepared~ expanding the
Autbority's scope of purpose~ Tbe amendment require.s the approval
of the county of santa Clara and the individual member cities of
the Au thor! ty.
'!'he amendment acids the following Authority purposes.
seeking and recomme:ndil19 a stadium proposal agreeable to
the joint powers body_ the city of santa Clara~ and the
San Francisco Giants; and
prepar 1ng and recommending any ballot measure and any
other documents needed to effectuate such a proposal.
Furt.her .. the amendment specifically proviaes that the Authority may
retain the experts,. attorneys and others necessary to those
purposes. The amendment on1y augments the existing Joint Powers
Agreement; it makes no chanqes In the language of the o.r iq inal
aqreement. Moreover, there is no change in the existIng terms
reqarding potential financial comJIlitment or the expenditure of
fW>da.
The proposed amendment Is attached.
Eeeommandation
I recommend that the Council approve the proposed amerment to the
stadium Joint Powers Authority aqree~ent.
