Funds have been appropriated in CIP 9057. Backgrou....rQ The installat.ion of a 12 XV underground isolationjdistributIon loop will provide the capability to isolate portions of the RWQCP without total operational shutdown in the event oE a major elect.rIcal failure~ The project consists of installing svitch gear and pulling cable to close the circuitry loop,.-allowing power feed in two directions. The City's utilities Department has been closely involved with this project and fully supports the a($ded dependability this project will provide for RWQCP operations. PiscussIon Requests for bids were mailed to 11 cont,ractors. Anderson Electric, Inc., with a bid of $51~797~ was the only contractor to respond. Four contractors notified staff that, due to prior commitments.., they would not be able to respond. staff has determined that the bid of Anderson Electric, Inc. is competitive, and recommends that it be determined by Council to be a reasonable bid and that the contract be awarded accordingly. This bid is 15 percent below the engineer's est.imate of $61~-o,OO. Recommendatio-ns staff recommends that CouncIl: 1. Approve and authorize the Mayor to execute the attached COl'lstruction contract with Anderson Electric, Inc.. in the amount of $51,791 for the installation of a 12 XV underground isolation/distribution loop. 2.
