ORDINANCE NO. 237 6
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALo ALTO
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1324, THE ZONING ORDINANCE,
BY AMENDING ARTICLES 13 AND 14 TO PROTECT R-1 AND
R-DUP-DISTRICTS ADJACENT TO M-1 OR M-2 DISTRICTS
' The council of the City of Palo Al to does OP.DAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. That subsection (d) be added to Section 13. 02 of
Ordinance' No. 1324, the Zoning Ordinance, to read as follows:

SECTION 2. That Section 13~05 of Ordinanc-e No. 1324, the . '

Design-control Approval-as Provided in Article 20 11

to read as follows:

SECTION 4. That Section 13.15 of Ordinance No. 13~4, the
Zoning Ordinance, be amended to read as follows:
11 13.15 Building Height Limit:
(a) Eight stories, but not to exceed eighty-five feet, and
provided that all sides of buildings except the front
and back sha1ll be confined within inclined planes
sloping inward at a ratio of one foot horizontally to
two feet vertically, .such planes beginning directly
above property lines at an elevation of fifty feet
above average ground grade.

property line the height shall 11ot exceed thirty-five
feet, plus one additional foot of height for each five

SECTION 5 •. That Section 13.16 be added to Ordinance No. 1324,
the Zoning Ordinance, to read as follows:

to read as follows:
"14. 05 Uses Requiring Fencing and Landscap_ing:
To protect R-1 andR--Dup Districts from uses permitted
in the M-2 District when adjacent to an R-1 or R-Oup
District, any use permitted by Section 14.02 above
which abuts any R-1 or R-Dup District stall provide a
solid fence or wall eight_ feet in height and a planted
screen o:Cappx-_oy~_g __ t~ees and shr11bs ·in a planting space
not less than ten fee.; in -width at the property line
abutting the R-1 or R~oup District.
