The Counc1-1 of the City of Palo Alto· does ORDAIN as fol-
·sE:CTION 1. Section 2.4o'8.3-of Chapter-2, the Adminis
tra-tive Code, of the Palo Alto Municipal Code hereby· is
amended ·_to. 'read as foll<>Ws:
"SEC. 2.408.3 PAYMENT OF CLAIMS
The. Controller shall.pay claims_ for' ~hich .a1)pro
prTations.: have previously been made wh~m the;-.r.-.iaim was

(c) The City Attorney is further authorized to
compromise or settle, without prior approval of the
Council, any actions in which the City is either
. plaintiff .or. defendant. and which .are not covered by
insurance, provided that the.amount of such compromise ,
or settlement shall not exceed five thousand dollars

(d) The City Attorney shall make a monthly report to
the Council on actiori taken on claims agains~ the
City.
(e) A r~commendation under (a) above sli.6.11 constitute
