Chapter 17 of the Palo Al to Mtinic ipal Code is hereby amended to read as shown on EXHlBi.T A attached hereto ·and by this reference made a part hereof with the same force and effect as though set out herein in full. Section 2 .. Upon the date this ordinance takes effe~t, the existing Chri1Her 17 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code and all ordinances ot.o~rts thereof conflic.Ling or incdI\Sistent with the Uniform FL ~ Code or this ordihance are hereby re- pealed~ provided that: a. Nothing herein is intended to affect any action at law, c ivi 1 or criminal, ··instituted under any prov ls ion of law repealed hereby, and sOch actions may be prosecuted to conclu­ sion under the laws and regulations in effect at the time of the violation. CODE The "Uniforrn Fire Code" of the'California r.,ire Chiefs Asso~iation adopted Mav 17, 1961 hy the California Fire Chiefs Association cAnference, is hereby adooted. The provi~ions of said Uniform Piro Code and anv amen<lments thereto shall be supplemental to the provisions of Parts 1 and 2 of Division XII of the Californ~a llealth and Safety Code and Title 19 of t;}e California Aclfl1inistrative Codi~. - Whenever the phrase ··uni form Fire Lode" appears iP this Code or any ordinance of the City, such phrase shal 1 be dc1..:::med and construed to refer and apply to the "Uniform -;:'ire Code, adopted May, 1961, by the California Fire Chiefs Association· Conference," as adopted and amended by this Corle. The contents of the-waste cans shall be properly disposed of at least once daily and· at the end of each shift." 19. Section 20.01 is amended to read: "Section'20.0l. SCOPE. Liquefied Petroleum Gas shall not be.permitted within the City limits where natural gas mains exist. _Upon -the installa­ tion of natural gas mains~ conversion from L-P Gas to natural gas must be made within 30 days of installation of the mains. When an area is annexed to the City and no natural gas mains exist, the same c:·_;1dition shall applyj otherwise conversion from L-P Gas to natural gas shall be made withii., 30 days of annexation. EXCEPTION: Installation of L-P Gases may be permitted in the City limits if used as a mean~ of emergency standby supply for industrial operations or used for.medical, re­ search and testing or other purposes not suited to the use of natural -gas. 11 '· ' iO. subsection (a) of Section 20.02 is amended to read: 11 Sectlon 20.02. Subse-ction (c) of Section 20~05 is amended to r·ead: "c. The burning of shavings, sawdu 0Jt and refuse ma­ terials shall be permitted only under boilers, in furnaces;· or in incinerators or·refuse burners·safely. constructed and located. Stacks shall be provided with approved spark arresters having openings which will eliminate the danger from sparks, such as an expansion chamber, baffle walls or other effective arrangement. At boiler or other points where sawdust or shavings are used'as fuel, a storage bin of noncombustible con­ struction with raised _sill, -shall be provided •. ·:Produces of combustion and ~rocesees controlled by this Article shall not · exceed the air pollution 1imits·established by the Bay Area Air Pollution Control District having jurisdiction within the City. limits. All plans and blueprints for the installati,,n· of in­ cinerators, shall be primarily forwarded to the Bay ~rea Air Pollution Control District for approval and to the Chief of the Bureau of Fi~e·Prevention for final approval.11 24. Acc.u:mulations of waste paper, hay, grass, str-aw, weeds, litter or combustible 0r flaliln.able waste or rubbish of any kind shall not be permitted to remain \1pon any roof or in any court, yard, vaaant lot or open space. All weeds, grass, vines or other growth, when same endangers property, or is liable to be fired, shall be cut down and removed by the owner or occupant of the property.0 27'. Amend Subsection (b) of Section 27.05 to read: "b. All combustible rubbish, oily rags or waste mater­ -fail when kept withiµ a building, shall be ~ecurely stored in ·metal or metal-lined receptacles equipped with tight-fitting­ covers or in rooms or vaults constructed of non-combustible materials." 28. Section 27.22.is amended by deleting paragraph (3) thereof. 29. Section 28.01 -PERMIT REQUIRED is hereby 1deleted. 30. ·Section 30.01 ... PERMIT REQUIRED is deleted. 31.
