ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 1000 OF THE PALO ALTO
ZONING ORDINANCE.
The council of the City of Palo Alto DO OHDAIN as follows:
That, upon reco:m.."n.endatiorl of thE: City Pla.nn.ing Co:m
n;iss:ton, Sel(:.tion 1000 of the Palo Alto Zoning Ordinance is
hereby amended by adding thereto, after the definition of the
words "Rear Line", the C.efin1 tion of the vrord t'ISchool", to read
as follows, to-wit~
S~lC. 1000. School: For zoning purposes, a. tH~hool
shall "6(T'""oe1"'nea as any builC.ing or ar..y tract of le.nd
or lot used for play, instruction, e.nCl care of ch1.ld:ren
at publ1c expense or for fees and tuition.
Any and every school shall meet the space. req_,~ir·e
ments e~.tablished by the American Eyg:1ene Association,
ar.ti. shall, as a minimum provide free t>l.ay space to the
amou..-·'lt c,f 20 ,ooo· square feet, for· .e. ms:d:num of ten
ch1ldre.r.; with a..a additional area. of 100 squar·~a fe~~t
for eve1ry s.ddi tional child; provided thB. t s. school may
