as fallows::
WEEREAS, a general mun.icipi:il election wc..s held
on May 14, 1935, for the purpose of electing five
candidates for the office of Councilmen of the City of
Palo Alto for the term of six years and two candidates
for the office of Councilmen of 1:.he City .of Palo Alto
for r;he term of four j·ea:rs; and,
WHERE.AS, at said election so held under the
provisions of the electj.on ordinance of the City (;f
ralo Al to, t;wo Cour1cilme·n only were elected for t::.i.e
terr.a: of six years and two Cou.ncilmen were electe<i
for the term of four ye::.rs, and under the prov1s:i.i:>ns
of said election ordinance of said city it became
necess<:i.ry to hold a secc1nd elect.ion for the purpo:se
of e.lecting three Counc.:Hmen for the term of six years;
and under said election ordinance J. BYRON BLOIS:,
CLAP.ENCE W. BROOKS, EDWL.RD P. CASff.a.EL, GLENN W. GO:JI.JARD,
GEORGE LIDDICOAT and ROBERT L. RICEAfIDS became th·a
can.d:i.dates to be voted for at the second election which
wc..s· duly called and held cm May 21, 1935; and ·
VVHEREh~S, at said election on rio.y ~l, 193!$ it
appears 1·rom the :return~; of the election officers .::..nd
the canvass of the retuJ'ns by the City Council tht:J.t
J. Byron Blois received 1274 votes, Clarence W. Brooks
.. '720 votes, Edward r. C;.:.i.Hhel 1211 votes, Glenn ~~.
"Oddr.:.rd.1353 votes, George Liddicoat 1176 votes and
Robert lJ. Richards 1852· votes; and
WHEREAS, said e2.ectio:n orC.inance provide!~ that
the c<:1.nd1dates who rece:~ve the highest number of votes
at the said second elec1;ion shall be declared elE~cted
t•:J the office i:lf Counci:wmen;
NOW, THEREFORE, this Council find$ that ~i. Byron
Elois, Glen..."l W. Goddard and Hobert L. Richards r';ceived
the. highest number of votes ca.st at said second E:lectio:n
to fill the office of Cour::.cilmen for the term ~f six
years; and~
IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that J. BYRON BLOIS, GLENN W
GODDARD and ROBERT L. RICB.?-ii.DS are declared elected as
Councilmen o:r' the City ;;if Palo Alto ta serve for the term
of six years from o.nci. after July 1, 1935.
