The Council of the City of Palo Alto
DO ORDAIN as follows:
.· . Sec ti on 1. All hot els, tcn:~r:e nt s and
rooming hoo.ses for transient guests shall keep
a. register, in which shall be entered tbe true
names and addresses of all guests seeking roOI:lS
for lodging. All guests securing rooms at nn
hotel, tenement or lodging house shall register
in the register provided, as a be-ire, for said
purpose. Such regis t:ratio;ns shall be ms.de i·a
the t:rue name of each guest, who shal::yenter a~ter
the name, his pr op~·'!' re~idence address. Suer..
registration shall be open at all times for
tho inspection of the Chief of .2olice or his
authorized a.gent.
Sec. 2. It sh~.11 be unlawful for any
owner, :proprietor or lessee of a.ri hotel, tener.ient
or rooming house for transient guests to refuse
or neglect to comply wi tc the requirements he re
in before set forth.
, -. Any violation of the provisions of this
ordinanci.e shall be cons tru. ed as a. mis det"lea:aor, ·
and a.ny pex·son, ~ipon conviction thereof, shall be
punished by a fine not exceeding $500.00, or by
imprisonment not exceeding 180 da.yw.
