AUENDING SEC~ION 50 AND 51 OF PART I OF THE CODIFIED ORDINANCES OP THE· CITY OF PALO ALTO RELATING TO FIRE DEPAR1MENT. • Tne Council of the City of Palo Alto do .···ordain a.s :foll owe: .;/ Sections 50 and 51, Article IV, .Part I of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Palo Alto are amended to read as follows: Section 50. FIRE DEPARTMENT: The .Palo Alto Fire Department is her4'by recognized as •9.:i.'1d declared to be the established fire department of the City of .Palo Alto. The chief of the fire department and th' regu.lar :nonthly paid emplo;7es of the fire department shall be appointed by the Boa.rd of Public Safety to hold offi-ce at the pleasure of the Board. Section 51. CHJ'.EF. The chief of the fire department shall be ex officio fire ma.rah.al, :!U'ld as such shall have the _;powers of a police offioe:r during a fire, from the time the fire apparat'll.s ·· leaves the fire house until it returns theret,o. lie is herebJ authorized and empowered: POWERS OF. (1) To have charge and control of the fire department property and apparatus,. and t 0 enforce all rales and regulations rele.t1Iig thereto. _( 2} To report to the :Soard of .2ubl:lc Safety from time to time as req:a.ested, regardj~ng the condi ti one of the city as to all matters l~e­ ferring to fire prev.ention or protection. The city clerk is directed to post this ordinance on the bulletin boaTd at the city hfQl and the same shall go into effect immediately.
