AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO REI.A.TINO '.(0 PUBLIC
GARAGES, DYEING AND CLEUlUJG '170RKS, STOR!i~S AND PI.ACES OF
BUSINESS.
The Counoil of the City of Palo Altcf do ordain ss follows:
Section l. No 'vooden building in the City of
Palo Alto .shall be need or maintained or business carried
on thereiri as a public 1?8.Ta~e. and no wooden building in
said oity shall be used or maintained or business oarried
on ther.ein as a. dyeing and cleaning works, that keeps in
said bu;fldin~ in excess of :five (5) i:i:allons of hydro
oarbOn "liquid as defined in Article IX of Pa.rt IV of
Codified Ordinance .No. 2 of the City of Palo Alto; pro
vided, however, that this section shall not apply .. to
publ io gara2'es and dyein~ and cleaning works now d"oing
business in ~ooden buildinRs.

Section 3. The fol.lo'.ving rules shall be observed
in public ga.rap;oes. service ·sta ti one, dyeil~R' and c leaninp;
works, atores and places of business.
(a) No smo'k:1n~ shall be allowed 1.n or
about publio gars.Res, servioe stat ions, arid dyeing and
cleaning works.
lb) The motor in a motor Yehicle in or
about a pul,lic ~rape or service station i:ihall be
stopped while the tank of said motor vehic:le is being
filled.
( c) P..11 oils. oils drawn f'rom automobi lee,
ra~s and wa.ete of every kind, kept in or around !?Sr&F..es,
· ser;vioe sta.tions and dye inp, and c leanin~ works, shall
be ~onfined. in metal containers.
(d) All ra~s, pa.per, excelsior and waste
of every kind, kept in or around stores and places of
business, shall be confined i':n metal cont a in~.rs.

sh!.ll violate.any of the 3)l'OVisione of this ordinance
shall be deemed miil ty of a misd&meanor, a:nd upon ...
