AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 12.16.020 OF
CHAPTER 12.16 OF TITLE 12 OF THE PALO ALTO
MUNICIPAL CODE BY ESTABLISHING UNDERGROUND
UTILITY DISTRICT NO. 21

The Council of the City of Palo Alto, California. does ordain as follows:
WHEREAS, this Council d·id, on May 14, 1979, adopt its Resolution No.
~;680 of Intention to Amend Section 12.16.020 of Chapter 12.16 of Title 12 of
tr;e Pa!o Alto Municipal Code by Establishing Underground Utility District No.
21 in said City and appointed Monday, the 25th day of Junei 1979, at the huur
of 7:JO o'clock p.m. in the Council Charmers~ City Ha11, 250 Hamilton Avenue,
Palo l-Uto, California, as the time and place of h,earing pt·otests and rece·iving
evidence for and against said proposed action and directing notice;
WHtREAS~ not i cf: was given of the time <:nd place therein stated in the
manner provided by law, as dppears from the affidavits on file in the office
of the City Clerk;
~~HERf.AS, said matter came on regularly for hear·ing at the tin1e there·in
fixed; and
WH[R£AS. all wr a ten protests and other written cortlTiuni cations were
publicly read at said meeting and evidence duly taken and all persons desiring
to be heard were fu 1ly heard;
NOW, THEREFORE. !T IS FOUND, DETERMINED and ORDERED, as follows:
1. The pub1ic necessity~ hea1th and safety require the removal of poles
and overhead 1 i nes and as soc 1 a ted ove-rhead structures from that certa ·in area
described in said Resolution No. 5680.
2. Section 12.16.020 of Chapt.et 12.16 of Title 12 of the Palo Alto
Municipal Code is arnended by adding Subsection (21) thereto, said Subsection
{21) to read as follows:
11 (21) District No. 21. All lands w'lthin the area of the City of
Palo Alto fronting on Page Mill Road between El Camino Real and
Birch Avenue; removal ninety (90) days after completion and
acceptance of the work.u
3. The 11 Undergro1Jnd Utility District ~1ap 11 referred to in sa·id Section
12.16.020 shall be amended to add the areas shown on the map referred to in
said Resolution No. 5680.

4. This Ordinance shall become effective upon the expiration of thit'ty
( 30) days from its p<!.5S a.ge.

The foregoing Ordinance was duly and r·egularly introduced at a ,r5egu1ar
mee:ti~g of the Council of the City of Palo Alto held on tht~ .c;. day
