be locn. ted adj ace1.1.t to ea.ch exit or cntr.y dri ve-;·.ray. The flag place
ment shall not interfere with motor vehicle traffic. The total area
of each such flag shall not exceed six square feet nor be less than
four squa-re fe~t, At times ~v-hen gasoline or other motor vehicle
fuel is available to the general public for sale. th~ flag shall
be colored a solid green; at all other times it shall be colored a
sc ·'.id red.
SECTION 3. The signs ~nd flags addressed in this ordinance
shall ~--exemi>t from the p~.:~l"!nit 17cquir£.!ments of ChaptE!r. 16.20 of
the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
SECTION 4. Violations of this ordin~nce shall be infractions
punisnaDTeuy·a $50 f:inc :for the fh~st of.f7ense •. $100 for the ;::econd
offense, and $250 for eich additional offense witl1in a ycnr. Addi
tionally, continu~1g violations shall be a public nuisance wltich
may be enjoined.
SECTION 5. The Council finds that this is not a project nndPr

ability of gasoline.

SECTION 7. This ord~1ancc shall be effective inmediately and
