ORDINANCE OF 1rHE COUNCIL OF' THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING SECTIONS 18.04.030, 18.41.030 and 18.41.040
OF THE Pl~LO AL'I'.0 MUNICIPJl.1L CODE TO REQUIRE USE PERMITS
FOR I,IQUOR STORES IN CN NF.IGHBORHOOD COMl"lERCIAI,
DISTRICT REGULATIONS
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. Section 18.04.030 of the Palo Alto Municipal
Code IShereby amended to incll.lde Definition 53{c) to read as
follows:
11 (c) L.i<:;v.or Store: A use requiring a State of
Calif0rn1a"Ott-sale g-enerRl license" (sale for
off-sj.te const~ption of wine, beerr and/or hard
liquor) and having 50 percent or mox·e of total
dollar sales accounted for by beverages covo~~a

SECTION 2. Section 18.41.030 (h) of the Palo Alto Municipal
Code ls hereby amended to read as follows:
11 (h) Retail services 1 excluding liquor store.s.11

SECT.ION 4. The Council of the Ci+.y·o£·Pa.lo Alto finds
that the enac:Ernent of this o:t:-dinance wi 11 have no significant
environmental impact and will be consistent wit.h the .Palo Altc
Comprehensive Plan.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall become effective upon
the c.ommencement of the thirty-·first day after its adoption.
