ORDINANCE NO. 3143
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
APPROVING AND ADOPTING A PLA.H FOR THE CONSTRUCTION
OF DRAINAGE IMPROVE!'ffiNTS IN BOL PARK.
Wfl.EREAS, Article VIII of the Chartet· of the City of Palo Alto
and Section 22.08.005 of the Palo Alto Hunicipal Code require that
before any substantial building, construction, recot1struction, or
development is commenced or approved upon or with respect t..:> any
land held by the City for park purposes, the Council shall first
cause to be prepared and by ordinance approve and adopt a plan
therefor; and
~-lllEREAS, the City Council did by Ordinance No. 2986, adopted in
1977 1 place Bol Park on the list of lands used or inte,nded to be used
for pa~k purposes; and
WHEREAS, the Council desires to allo\v certain improvements to
drainage to be accomplished in Bol Park which are necessary to pre
vent the pending of water to a depth of approximately four feet: and
t~IEREAS, said pending creates a safety hazard to children in
part because of the steepness of the grade surrounding the pond; and

N0\'1. THEREF'ORE, the Counctl of the C:i.ty of Palo Alto does ORDAIN

SECTION 1. The document attached hereto, marked EXHIBIT A,
hereby is approved and adopted as additional park improvements pur
suant to Section 22. 08, 00.5 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code ..
SECTION 2. The project was reviewed for environmental impact
previously and no further environmental assessment is required,
SECTION 3. Because of the facts set forcl1 in the recitals of
this ordinance, the Council does declare that this is an emergency
ordinance and shall take effect in~ediately upon its passage.
