WHEREAS, pursuant to the provision& of section 12 of Article
III~of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council Qn June
29, 1976, <h.d adopt a budget for fiscal year 1976-77; and
•HHEREA.S, the Council intends to provide fire protection ser
vices -kb Stanford University pursuant to a co'i1trac:t; arid
wa:EREASI it is iinticipatoo that the provision of said. fire
protection· services will result in lo~er costs ard equal, or im
proved, services to bo.th Stanford u·niversi ty and the City of
P~lo Alto;
