HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2759.. • --• ORDINANCE NO. 2759 • ORIG~NAL ORDINANCE OF 'l'HE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO A1<1ENDING THE BUDGE'r FOR FISCAL YEAR 1973-1974 TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF POLICE OFFICER POSITIONS FROM 54 TO 55 TO ENABLE A POLICE OFFICER TO PARTI- C!PATE IN AN INTERNSHIP WITH PUBI,IC SYSTEMS, INC. WHEREAS, pursuant to the prov1s1ons of Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council of the City of Palo Alto did on June 18, 1973, adopt a budget for fiscal year 1973-1974; and WHEREAS, Public Systems, Inc., a non-profit research and consulting firm, and the Cit.y of Palo Alto have entered into an agreement whereby a Palo Alto police officer may participate in a one year internship with Public Systems, Inc.; and W.dEREAS, Public Systems, Inc.; has agreed to provide for all salary and rcJ.ated costs of the police officer for one year; and WHEREAS, the internship will be of benefit to the police officer and the City; and ~~EREAS, the City desires to maintain its current staffing level while allowing one police officer to participate in the internship; NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows: SECTION 1. The authorized number of police officer posi­ tions in the Police Department is increased from 54 to 55. SECTION 2. 'l'his ordinance shall become effective immediately as provided in Section 12 of Article III of the Charter and Section 2.04.375 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
