ORDINANCE NO. 2732
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 1973-1974 TO
INCREASE THE ESTIMATED REVENUES AND CONTRACT SERVICES
APPROPRIATION AND TO ESTABLISH A RESERVE FROM THE
PREVIOUS FISCAL YEAR FOR 1973-1974 APPROPRIATIONS
IN THE REFUSE UTILITY
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 12 of Article
III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto, the Council of the
City of Palo Alto did on June 18, 1973, adopt a budget for fiscal
year 1973-74; and
WHEREP~, Refuse Utility revenues have been re-evaluated
and should be increased by $44,150 for 1973-74; and
WHEREAS, the contract with Palo Alto Sanitation Company has
been amended since adoption of the 1973-74 budget and will result
in additional expenditures of $89,129; and
WHEREAS, this will result in a r.et operating deficit of
$44,979; and
WHEREAS, a surplus of $47,786 was realized by the Refuse
Utility in fiscal year 1972-73, of which $44,979 can be retained
in a Reserve to meet this operating deficit;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does
ORDAIN as follows:
SECTION 1. The 1973-74 estimated revenues for the Refuse
Utility be-Increased by $44,150. The 1973-74 appropriation for
Contract Services be i~creased by $89,129 and a Reserve containing
$44,979 of the 1972-73 Refuse Utility Surplus be established to
meet the projected 1973-74 budget deficit.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall become effective immedi
ately as prov1ded in Section 12 of Article III of the Charter and
Section 2.04.375 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
