ORDINANCE NO. 2713
ORDINP.NCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CI'rY OF PALO ALTO
AMENDING SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 10.12.040 AND
SUBSECTION (a) OF SECTION 10.36.070 OF THE PALO ALTO
MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCLUDE ADOPTED POLICIES AND WAR-
RANTS FOR TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as
follows:
SECTION 1. Subsection (b) of Section 10.12.040 of the
Palo Alto Municipal Code hereby is ~~ended to read as fo!lows:
11 (b) The city manager shall ascertain and determine
the locations where such signals are required by resort
to field observation, traffic counts, and other traffic
information as may be pertinent, and his determinations
therefrom shall be made in accordance 'IIIith those traffic
engineering and saf~ty standards and instructions set
fort~1 .in the Traffic Manual or its successor, issued by
the division of highways of the state department of
public works or its successor, and as set forth in
policies and warrants for traffic control devices,
adopted by ordinance or resolution of the legisla~ive
body of this city.11
SEC'riON 2. Subsection (a) of Section 10. 36.070 of the
Palo Alto M~~icipal Code hereby is amended to read as follows:
"10.36.070 Parkin2 adjacent to schools. (a) The
city manager is hereby authorized to Pface signs and
to place markin9s on curbs, pavement, and similar areas
to provide adequate control for vehicle parking and
loading upon any street or portion thereof adjacent
to any school property in accordance.with those traffic
engineering and safety standards ~1d instructions set
forth in policies and warrants for traffic control
devices near schools, adopted by ordinance or resolution
of the legislative body of this city."
SECTION 3. This ordinance shall become effective upon
