ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CirY OF. PALO ALTO
AMENDING · THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR· 1972-73
AUTHORIZING APl»ROPRlATION OF AN ADDITI<?NAI. $87,SOO TO BE
INCLODED WITHIN THE APPROPRIATION OF THE CAPITAL
IMPROVEMENT FUND FOR PURCHASE OF A RESIDENTIAL
TREATMENT CENTER SITE
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 12 of Article III of the Charter of the City of Palo Alto,.
the Council did on June 26, 1972, adopt a budget for the fiscal year 1972-73; and
WHEREAS,· the Council of the City of Palo Alto 'has designated the establishment of a
comprehensive anti-drug abuse program at· the local level . as a high priority in terms of the
commitment of local resources; and
WHEREAS, the Council of the City of P:ilo Alto has executed an agreement with the Palo
Alto Community Drug Abuse Board hereinafter referred to as 11 PACDAB;" for establishment and
operation of a comprehensive .anti-drug abuse program in the City of Palo Alto; and
WHEREAS, PACDAB has selected 851 University Avenue as the ideal site for its residential
treatment center; and
WHEREAS, the estimated cost of purchase and renqvation of 851 . University Avenue is
Eighty-seven Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($87·,500);-'which is over arid above the amount
contained in the budget adopted for fiscal year 1972~73 .
. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council 'of the City ·of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as. follows:
SECTION i. "The amount of Eighty~seven· Thousand Five Hundred Dollars (S:~7~SOO) be
. _appropriated from the Unappropriated Billance of the Capital Improvement Fund for purchase
and renovation .of 851 University Avenue as a Residential treatment Center.
SECTION i. This ordin311ce shall become effective imfuediately a8 providedJn Section 12
of Atticl~ m · of the Charter and Section 2.04.375(3) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code.
