ORDINANCE NO. 2652
ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CI~~ OF PALO ALTO
ESTABLISHING BICYCLE LANES AND PATHS ON CERTAIN
CITY STREETS AND AUTHORIZING IMPLEMENTATION THEREOF;
AND AMENDING SECTIONS 10.04.040, 10.64.100, 10.64.180,
AND 10.64.190 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNiCIPAL CODE, RE
PEALING SECTIONS 10~64.110 AND 10.64.150 OF THE
PALO ALTO MUN;£.CIPA! .. CODE, AND ADDING SECTIONS 10. 64 .185
AND 10.64.187 TO THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE PROVIDING
FOR THE ,,REGULATION OF BICYCLE LICENSING AND_ OPERATION
NHEREAS, the Council of the City of Palo Alto has approved
and adopted as its policy a, map entitled "EXHIBIT 'A'-~MASTER
PLAN--ORBA.t'l BICYCLE ROUTE SYSTEM, II hereinafter referred to as
"Master.Plan;" and
WHEREAS, plans have been developed for staged implementation
of the Ma$ter Plan based upon available resources of the City:
and
WHEREAS, ur.~e-.: the auchorit;y of section 21207 of the California
Vehicle Code, the .city, by ordinance, may establish bicycle lanes

separated from any vehicular lanes upon highways, other than
certain state and county highways, and may regul~~e the operation
and use of bicycles and vehicles with respect to such bicycle
lanes; and

WHEREAS, under th-3 authority of Section 21206 of the

SECTION J. The Council hereby ~stablishes· those bicycle lanes
and. paths as d~~ignated :on the. Mat=;ter·: .. :p1a:n attached· to Resolution
No. 4441, adopted by the council_of the City ·of Palo Alto on
''Apr.il 19, 1971, as said' map is-thereafter ar.d from time to time
hereafter amended.
