', ·: ORDINANCE OF 'rHE ·COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO .1\LTO AMENDIN~ SECTION l6.04.075 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE TO AMEND THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE TO REQUIRE A BUILDING PERMIT Ta° BE TAKEN OUT OR 0iJ1HER APPROVAL GAINED FOR REPLACEMENT CONSTRUCTlON. PRIOR TO :" APPLICATION FOR DEMOLITION PERMIT FOR DEMOLITIO?!. OF ' STRUCTURES LAST USED FOR RESIDENTIAL PURPOSES WHEREAS, there is a· shortage of residential housing in the City:of Palo Alto, and -. WHEREAS, said shortage of residential housii1g ·is compounded ' ·;.;.. -~ .. ~ .· by the demolition of structures last u~ed as resi:dences without replaceme,n_t within six months of said demolition. NOW, THEREFORE, the Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN ii:::i 'tollows: SECTiON 1. Section l6.04.07S of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is amended to read as follows: 11 (a) •Demol:i,tion Permits. "Section 30l(e) added -Demolition permits -sub­ section (e) is added to section 301 of the uniform buiiding code t~ read: • (e) Demolitii:;m permits. 'A building permit or other approval issued pursuant to this section shall be valid for a per.i.od of_ 180 days notwithstanding the provisions of section 302(d) of ·the unifornribuilding c0de, and the holder of such-a valid · building-permit or approval shall conunence constructi6n within such 180 day per.iod. 'This section shall 1fot b:;: applicable ·Lo demolition required by the Chief Building Off icia.l of the City of Palo Alto or the Fire Marshal of the City of Palo Alto with respect to structures deemed.~t:ructurally unsafe or ha2·ardous or otherwise dangerous to human· life pursuant to section 203(a) of the uniform building code.
