DAY UPON WHICH CERTAIN HOLIDAYS ARE CELEBRATED The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as fcl- SECTION 1 •. Section 2.08~100 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 11 2. 08 .100. Holidaxs and other seecial days o (a) Regular holidays. Tfie f.ollo\:i"i_ng days ·are Cleclared to be holidays on which muni.:ipal bus.ine~s of . the city_ shall be suspended: Every· Saturday and Sunday New Yearis Day, January 1 Washington's Birthday,_the third Mr-ipday,in February Memorial Day, the last Monday in M~y Independenca Dayj July 4 Labor Day, the first Monday in September Admission Day, Septeltlber 9 Columbus Day, the second Monday in October Veterans Day, the fourth Monday in October Thanksgiving· Day, the fourth Thursday in Nove.mber arid the day following Christmas Day, December;2~ In the event that any of the aforementioned days, except Sunday:·,, i tselt, falls on Sunday r the following. Mpnday shall be considered a holiday, In the event that any of the aforementioned days, except Saturday itself, falls on Saturdayr the preceding Friday shall be considered a holidayo (b)_ Other special ciays~ The mayormayproclaim-'a day or any portion thereof as a '-holiday, a· day of mourning , . or other similar special day for the observation or commemoi·atioh of a noteworthy public event, provided that municipal business shall hot be suspended on such day or portion thereof, unless the mayor's proclamc:t.tion so states."
