HomeMy WebLinkAboutORD 2566.. • • ORIGINAL ORDINANCE NO. 2566 ORDINANCE OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO ALTO AMENDING CERTAIN SECTIONS OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL CODE TO INCREASE VARIOUS FEES 'fhe Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAI~ as follows: SECTION l. Section·4.04,060 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "4.04.060 Char added to delin uent fees. All license fees delinquent irty ays or mores ail-be subject to a charge of fifty percent of the original fee which ehar~~, shall be added to the amount of the fee collected, provided, however, that the minimum ·charge shall be the sum of five dollars." ~ SECTION 2. Subsection (3) of Section 4,10.040 of.the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 11 (3) Additional licenses may be issued to employees of a license holder on the payment of five dollars per year for each employee after approval and investigation by the chief of police.11 SECTION 3. The fee for auctioneers provided in Section 4.10.060(c) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby increased from two hundred dollars per year or five dollars per.day_ to four hundred dollars per year.6r ten dollars per day. SECTION 4. The fee p·rovided in Section 4. 14. O 4-Q (1) of the Palo Alto Municipal Code for tobacco vendors and each tobacco vending machine is hereby increased from $4.00 per year to $8.00 per year. SECTION 5. The city manager shall have the authority to prescribe reasonable fees for the care and feeding of animals." SECTION 7. subsection (a) of Section 6.16.020 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "(a) Application for a dog license shall be made to the city treasurer, who shall 1ssue the license upon application therefor and the payment of the required fee. Bach license shall be issued in the name of the owner or person having custody of such dog and shall not be transferable. The annual fee for each license shall be four dollars, except that for initial licenses purchased from January l to and including June 30, the fee shall be two dollars.11 SECTION 8 c Section 9004.020 is hereby added to the Palo Alto Municipal Code to read as follows: " 9.04.020 Nori a ment of fees· or char es. No person shall use any city aci ity or service wit oucpaying the prescribed fee or· charge therefor. 11 SECTION 9. The fee provided for night parking permits in ·, ~ . subsection (b) of Section 10.44.020 is hereby increased from one dollar for six months to three dollars fo:c six months. SECTION 10, Subsection (a) of Section 12.08.040 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "(a) No permit fee shall be issued by the city engineer to perform any of the work described in sect1'?n 12 ;·:oa .010 · until the applicartt has paid to the ci~y a fe~ of three percent: ·Of the cost of the work covere_d .. in the permit as estimate.d ·by the city engineer~ provided that the minimum fee shall be ten dollars and provided further that should any-person begin any street surface unpr:overnent .or str-eet excavation without obtaining the necessary permit therefor, the applicable fee shall be dou.bled." - 2 - i ~ •"''.; # I"-,~ ... .. • • SECTION 11. ~he fees provided in Section 18.98.040 in connection with change of zoning district-applications are hereby increased from fifty dollars to one hundred dollars i~ the area for which the zone change is sought is ten thousand square feet or less; from seventy­ five dollars to one hundred fifty dollars if such area is over ten thousand square feet and not over one acre: and from one hund~ed dollars to two hundred dollars if said area is over one acre. SECTION 12. Section 21.18.010 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: 11 21.18.010 Fil.ing and checkin9 .fees. The subdivider shall pay the folrowing fees at the time of filing the map indicated: {a) ·Tentative or Preliminary Mae. In every instance where a tentative or preliminary map is filed for the first time, the fee shall be twenty dollars plus f i.ve dollars per lot shown thereon. (b) Refilinq of Tentative or Preliminary Map. Where the filing of a tentative or preliminary map is necessitated by the failure of thee subdivider to record an approved final or parcel map within the time limit prescribed by this title and the refiled tentative or preliminary map is substantially identical to said final or parcel map_ the fee shall be thirty dollars. (c) Final Ma_e. In every· instance where a final or parcel map is filed, the fee shall be thirty dollars plus one dollar per lot shown thereon." SECTION 13. This ordinance shall become effective ppon the expiration of thirty days from its passage.
