ORDINANCE OF 'l'HE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO AI.TO
AMENDING SECTION 18.08.040 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL
CODE CHANGING THE ZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY KNOWN AS
488 WEST CHARLESTON ROAD FROM R-1 TO P-C
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as fol-
lows:
SECTION 1. Section 18.08.040 of the Palo Alto Municipal
Code (the Zoning Map) is hereby amended to change the zoning
of certain property known as 488 West Charleston Road from R-1
to P-C.
SECTION.2. Said property is shown on a map attached hereto,
marked EXHIBIT A and incorporated herein by reference and en-
titled "Change of District of 488 West Charleston Road from
R-1 to P-C."
SECTION 3. The diagram attached hereto entitled "Develop-
ment for Proposed P-C District" Drawing No. 2 is incorporat~d
herein_by reference, made a part hereof and is hereby made the
Development Plan for the parcel described in Section 1 hereof.
SECTION 4. Said Development Pian is approved pursuant to
Section 18.68.070 of the Palo Alto Municipal Code subject to
the f6llowi~g c6nditions:
1. Uses, Reqording and_dleri6al functions df the
San Francis'6o·Peninsula unit of Recording for the Blind,
Inc. and other uses (except,,the manufacture or sales
activiti~~) Of non-profit charitable organi~atidns
benefitin~ the blind as approved by the Chief Buildlnef,
Official of th~ City of Palo Alto.
2. Improvements.
(a) All structures shall be maintained, imprqved,
modified or removed as required by the Chief

Building Official of the City of Palo Alto for
safety and as required for change of occupancy
and use.
(b) The detached-apartment unit shall be removed and
the structure restored to its original intended
use as required by the Chief Building Official
--of the City of Palo Alto.
(c) Off-street parkin~ shall be provided as shown on
the Development Plan.
(d) Landscaping shall be maintained and replaced as
necessary.
3. Development schedule.
(a) All construction, improvement and correction shall
begin within ninety days of City Council approval.
(b) All construction, improvements and correction shall
be completed on or before six months after start.
(c) App~icant snall build and develop according to the
Fire and Building Codes in force on the date each
building permit is issued, any design feature of
the Development Plan approved hereby to the con-
trary notwithstanding.
SECTION 5. This ordinanc~ shall become effective upon the
expiration of thirty days from its passage.
