ORDINANCE NO. 2541
ORDINANCE OF 'l'HE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PALO AI,TO
AMENDING SEC'rlON 10. 56. 010 OF THE PALO ALTO MUNICIPAL
CODE DECREASING THE SPEED LIMIT ON CERTAIN POR'rIONS
OF WILLOW ROAD AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY
The Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as fol-
lows:
SECTION 1. The Council of the City of Palo Alto does find
as follows:
a. Traffic on Willow Road has increased greatly due
to the recent opening of Route I-280 (Junipero
Serra Freeway), intersecting therewith, and such
increase is hazardous.
b. Substantial development of residential properties
alo~g Willow Road is occurring and will increase
traffic hazards in said area.
c. Speed limits in excess of 35 miles per hour on ~aid
Willow Road are hazardous and should be reduced.
SECTION 2. Section 10.56.010 .of the Palo l~lto Municipal
Code (State speed limit decreased) is hereby amended by~~letirig
therefrom the following:
"Willow Road from Arboretum Road to a point
three hundred feet west of Pasteur ·Drive
Willow Road from a point three hundred·feet
west of Pasteur Drive to west ~fty limits
35 miles per hour
45 miles per hour"
SECTION 3. Section 10.56.010 of the Palo Alto Municip~l ··
Code (State speed limit decreased) is hereby amended by adding
thereto the following:
"Willow Road from Arboretum Road to the
west city limits 35 miles per hour"
SECTION 4. All other portions of Section 10.56.010 of the

SECTION S. Because of the facts set forth in Section 1
hereof and in order to protect the public safety, health and
welfare, the Council does declare that this is an emergency
ordinance that shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
This ordinance was introduced at a regular meeting of the
Council of the City of Palo Alto on Monday, the 5th day of
January, 1970, and was passed by a four-fifths vote of all the
Councilmen present at the meeting as follows:
