ORDI.N.AJ·~CE OF 'l'HE COUNCIL 0 G' THE CITY OF PALO ALTO
. AMENDING SECTION 19·~ 132 OF T"rlE PALO ALTO MUNICIF'AL
CODE· ESTABLISHING TRUCK RO~:ITES (DES'tiNA1'ION DEFINITION;
TRUCK WEIGHT INCREASE) A~'!l DECT.ARING AN EMERGENCY
Th.e Council of the City of Palo Alto does ORDAIN as follows:
SE:CTION 1. Subsection a. of Section 19.132 of the Palo
Alto M1.:nicipal Code is amended by adding thereto the following
definition:
"'Destination or de,stinat ions. Either a single
de.ffiery or several deliveries within UMultiple
Delivery Zones" a.s del:lr:.eated on the maps attached

to be necessary as an ernerge:ncy mE:~asure for the irr.rmediate preserv
::~.tion t:•f the, public peace, health and safety and shall become
effect:i.ve immediately .
The reasons for its urgency are that the present. limitations
on truc:k o:pe.:ra.tions :f.n the City are relaxed substantially by this
orditvmce and if adopted in the usu.al manner with a 30 day wai.ting
period would result in a situation in. w:·tich certain conduct now
illegal would b-ecome legal after the expiration of 30 days, thus
c~lic:a.ting and confusing corr~plia:1ce, enforcement and prosecution
pr~::ble111s during suc.h interim peri.od.
