BICYCLE. LICENSE
No person shall operate ol: ul;e' a b:Lcyele-prope:lled wbolly
or in part by muscular power upon any oJE: the streets of the City,
without fi:rst obtaining a U.cense therefor from the City Ctf P.alo:
Alto.
SEC. 16.02 -· APPLICAPON FOR BI•~CLE Lir.ENSE
Every peJ;son re_qt:rired to :hav4a .a bic::ycle license undet.~ Sec
tion 16~01 ·shall mak:e application to the! City of Palo AltCI upon
blatlk.s. furnished by the City. Sa:ld applic:ation shall cont:a:Ln
such information as may be requirc!d by :the City of Palo Alto
as to the applicant and the descr:Lption of. the bic:ycle li<!ensed.
No license shall be issued unlese. the bicycle to be li_.cenued
cOUJplies with the requirements of this ordinBnceas to ita safe
mechanical condition. ·
SEC. ~~-03 CITY TO-PROVIDE LICENSE .ANDI IEGISTRATION

·City shall provide a dry adhesive typie license tag, ~~ogetb.et·
with a registration certificate t:h~refor, . which. license tag
and registration certificate shall have n\lmbers sta~ed ther~on .·
in numerical order, beginning with the.NUD:iber 1, tbe year issu~d,
the expirati.:m. date, and the name PALO .ALTO sta~ed there:)n. OnE:
such license tag shall be attached to the fra1111e of the bi1::ycle,
and a corrEsponding registration ·certifica[te issued to tbe
::.li-censee upon payment of the license fee herein provided. 'Ibe
!'ie:tnsee shall keep such license attached co the bicycle tbrol·¢··
out the existence of the license.. 'nle Pol.icoe Department shall~
keep a record of the date of iss·ue of each l:l.cense, to wh01IIt
issued, and the number thereof.
-SEC. 1&.04 BUYERS OF SECONDJfAND BICYClES --
Evet:":J persor1 engaged in the 'busines•s ·of buying secondhand
bicycles 'is hereby required tC" .. :make a daily report to th~ Police
Department, giving the name ana -address vf the person :rom whom :
the bicycle was purchased, the description of :each bicycle pur···
chased, the frame number thereof, and the number of the license
tag thereon, if any.
SEC. 16.05 TRANSFER OF OWNERS.!!lf
Every person who sells or-transfers ownership of any bic;cl4:
shall report such· sale or t:L·ansfer by returning to the City ol:
Palo Alto within five days of the date of transfer or sale the
registrati_on c~rtificate for the bicycle, and stating the name
and-address ··of the person to whODit. said bicycle was sold or
transferred. The purchas1er or tr·ansferee of any bicycle require~:~
