City of Pale) Alto does ORDAIN as fo1low~~ Section 1. Chapt~.~r 15 of Ordir~ance Nlo. 1675, the~Uniform Bu:Llding Code, is amended by adding thereto a new section to be numbered 1507 and to l'(!ad as follow!;: "Sec. 1507 F Al.LOUT SHELTER~~ Fallout She lt:.ers, Huilding or s t:ruc tures, or --portions thereof <~onstructed, designE!d, modified, altered, or intended for or de·voted t:o use as a radiation fallout shelter shall meet the following, requirements: .. . .. (a) (1"-) Construction shall be of :1ncomb11.:1Stible or Class II mat1:!rials designe·d to 'IAiithstand normally imposed loads anci. press:ures and to provide radiation protectjon of the equivalen:t of thre~ feet: of earth (3Ci0 pour1ds per square foot). Shelters designed or used for nn:tlti-purpo!Ze use shall meet a:~1 the requirE:ments for such othE:r use as well as the require:ments of r:his Secti.on. (c) Fallout sheltE!rs shall be used for human habitation only when r.eces sary during. a peria·d of public emc~rgency and st:all be~ maintained in ~6 condition of r~adines:s £or such use.
