5. He shall collect and receive all monies due the City,
except as otherw.ise provided i:n this ordinance, in

and he shall ,administer such rilles and regulations as
may be adopted.
He shall conduct tax sales in accordance w1th State
law and shall act as rede:mption officer for the City.

rental of utility services,

.SECTlON 2. Section 219 of said Ordinance 1277 is hereby

SECTI<)N 3. This ordinance is hereby declared by the Coun,:il
to. be .:necessary as an emergencv measure for the -immediate preserva-. ~ .

l'l:e reasons for its urg~ncy are that the present City Treasurer
is: re-tiring on July 1, 1961 and by said ordi1.1ance his duties are
being combin.ed with those of 'the Commercial Officer; if th~~ effective
date -of. the ord-inance is the customary 30 days from its adoption the
Ci1:y will be without the services of a City T"reasur~r for alinost a
tnOttth .and no one will 'be authorized to inw:~st or reinvest City funds
during such period; such delay will result in a financial l·?ss to
t:he Gity if funds invested in securities maturing on July 1, 1961
are not reinvested illlmediately.
