HONORING MS. PURVI SHAH
2025 KIWANIS ANGEL AWARD RECIPIENT
WHEREAS, Ms. Purvi Shah will receive the 2025 Kiwanis Angel Award from the Kiwanis Club of Palo
Alto on October 23, 2025; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Shah founded the Kids & Art Foundation in 2008, after her son Amaey's diagnosis of
cancer at the age of three; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Shah introduced art programs for young cancer patients and their families at Lucile Packard
Children's Hospital to use the power of arts to bring them healing, joy, and normalcy; and
WHEREAS, Kids & Art now provides individual and care center subscription art kits, in-person and online
workshops, and artists-in-residence; and
WHEREAS, in 2024, Kids and Art provided over 8,400 art kits to pediatric patients at 75 care centers,
including 19 hospitals in 12 states; thirty professional artists worked on art programs; and over 1,000 pediatric
patients and siblings attended workshops; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Shah has since transitioned out of day-to-day leadership of Kids & Art and while continuing
to serve on the board, she remains deeply involved in guiding the organization’s vision and impact.
NOW, THEREFORE I, Ed Lauing, Mayor of the City of Palo Alto, do hereby proclaim Purvi Shah as the
2025 Kiwanis Angel Award recipient. We honor and congratulate Ms. Shah for her outstanding dedication and
commend her for making a significant, positive impact on the lives of children and youth in the Palo Alto area
and beyond.
