Title: Update on the Status of Grants That May Offset the Cost of
Infrastructure Projects
From: City Manager
Lead Department: Public Works
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Infrastructure Committee accept this update on the
status of grants that may offset the cost of infrastructure projects.
Discussion
At the Infrastructure Committee (Committee) meeting on March 28, 2013, the
Committee directed that updating the status of grant requests for funding
infrastructure projects become a standing agenda item for meetings of the
Committee.
The City has applied for grant funding for the Bike Bridge and
Charleston/Arastradero Corridor projects. The status of these grant requests is
provided in Table 1. Since the Infrastructure Committee meeting on March 28,
2013, staff has learned that the Vehicle Emissions Reduction Based at Schools
Grant request of $1 million to support the Charleston/Arastradero Corridor
Project has been recommended for approval by Valley Transportation Authority
(VTA) staff. The recommendation is scheduled to be considered by the VTA Board
of Directors on May 2, 2013. Staff continues to monitor opportunities to leverage
grant funding toward the cost of infrastructure projects.
