GRANT FUNDING REPORT FY 2002-03
This is an informational report and no Council action is required.
DISCUSSION
During the last year, staff has aggressively sought state, federal and private grant
opportunities to supplement funding for specific programs, services and projects. This
has been a priority for City staff during FY 2002-03 and will continue to be so in the
future. The recent $10.5 million City budget shortfall has elevated the importance and
need of grant funding for City programs. In FY 2002-03, staff secured approximately
$3.3 million through various grant sources. Attachment A provides a detailed list of the
grant sources, project title, and award amounts of each grant.
The City works closely with its federal legislative advocate to identify grant
opportunities. The Ferguson Group in Washin~on D.C. provides specialized assistance
in expediting and processing grant applications to the City at the federal level.
In addition to attending grant-related training sessions, staff also utilizes a web-based
grant locator program to assist in identifying grants.
