REMOVAL OF CUBBERLEY-VENTURA DISCUSSION ITEM FROM
POLICY AND SERVICES COMMITTEE REFERRAL ITEMS IN
COMMITTEE LIST
RECOMMENDATION
Staff requests that the .Policy and Services Committee recommend that Council remove
the Cubberley-Ventura discussion item from the current Referral Items in Committee
List.
BACKGROUND
On December 17, 2001, City Council met as a Comlnittee of the Whole to discuss
"potential issues and need for information and further action regarding real estate holdings
within the spheres of influence of both .the City of Palo Alto and the Palo Alto Unified
School District." Council referred the matter to the Policy and Services Committee for
additional review. The purpose of the referral was to provide a forum for additional
discussion related to the joint uses of both the Cubberley and Ventura sites.
DISCUSSION
The City entered into an agreement with the Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD)
regarding the Cubberley site as part of negotiations surrounding the reopening of Tennan
Middle School. Currently, neither the City nor PAUSD is engaged in land use discussions
regarding the Cubberley or Ventura locations. As a result, staff respectfully recommends
that the Cubberley/Ventura discussion item be removed from the Policy and Services
Committee until future circumstances warrant.
Staff has a comprehensive set of documents related to this item. The documents have
been placed into a binder and currently reside in the City Manager’s Office. These

documents should be useful should future issues surrounding the Cubberley or Ventura
sites arise.
POLICY IMPLICATIONS
This recommendation does not represent any change to existing City policies.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
This staff report does not represent a project under the California Environmental Quality
Act (CEQA).
