SUBJECT:SUPPLIES AND SERVICE CONTRACTS AWARDED BY THE
CITY MANAGER, JULY 2003 THROUGH DECEMBER 2003
This is an informational report and no Council action is required.
DISCUSSION
The City’s existing Contracting and Purchasing Ordinance authorizes the City Manager
to award contracts for the purchase of supplies (materials and equipment) in any dollar
amount and to award contracts for services up to $65,000. Quarterly reports are required
by the Ordinance for supply contracts awarded by the City Manager over $65,000, and
for service contracts awarded from $25,000 to $65,000.
The attached report transmits the information required by the City’s existing Ordinance.
The report lists service contracts from $25,000 to $65,000 (Attachment A) and supply
contracts over $65,000 (Attachment B) awarded from July through December 2003.
Attachment C provides blanket order service contracts from $25,000 to $65,000 awarded
between July and December 2003. (Blanket orders are service or material contracts
established for multiple purchases with a specific vendor for a specified length of time
and dollar amount.) For items where no bids were received, awards were made in
accordance with the existing Ordinance.
On March 16, 2004 staff presented a revised Contracting and Purchasing Ordinance to
the Finance Committee (CMR: 179:04). T~e proposed Ordinance will go to the Council
by the end of fiscal year 2003-04. Should Council approve the revised Ordinance, in the
future, reporting requirements will change slightly.
