SUBJECT: Update on High Speed Rail Committee Recommendation Regarding
California High Speed Rail Station in Palo Alto and Other High Speed Rail
Issues
Discussion
The High Speed Rail Committee met Thursday, October 21, 2010 and discussed the above CMR
report. The Committee (on a 4-0 vote) passed a motion endorsing alternative 2. on page one of
the CMR with the following changes:
Take a position indicating the City is against further consideration of a mid-peninsula station in
Palo Alto and directing staff to draft a letter to the California High Speed Rail Authority
(CHSRA) and copying the letter to local, regional, state and federal elected officials. The
Committee amended staffs recommended language to include all of Palo Alto. Staffs
recommended language was specific to the University Avenue location.
