RECOMMENDATIONS
The Cib7 Manager recommends that the City Council appoint Steve Emslie as City Manager Pro
Tern from June 16 tba’ough June .22 including the June 16, 2008 CiD Council meeting, and Kelly
Morariu as Cib; Manager Pro Tern June 23 and June 24 including the June 23, 2008 City Council
meeting.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Article IV, Section 9 of the Ci~ Charter provides in relevant part that "[i]n the absence ... of the
city manager and the assistant city manager ... the council shall appoint a cib; manager pro tern
who shall possess the powers and discharge the duties of the city manager during such absence
The City Manager will be out of the office from June 16 through June 24, 2008, and will not be
available for the June 16 and June 23 City Council meetings. Given the vacancy in the Assistant
Cib; Manager position, the City.- Manager is recommending that the Council appoint someone to
se~we as City Manager Pro Tern in his absence. Steve Emslie and Kelly Morariu have the
knowledge and skills to serve in this capacity for these two meetings.
RESOURCE IMPACT
The appointment of a CiD~ Manager Pro Tern will hav~ no resource impact to the Ciw.
