SUBJECT:APPOINTMENT OF CARL YEATS AS CITY MANAGER PRO TEM
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 6 THROUGH AUGUST 10, 2007.
RECOMMENDATION
The City Manager recommends that the CiD~ Council appoint Carl Yeats as CiD~ Manager Pro
Tem effective August 6 through August 10, 2007.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Both the City Manager and Assistant City Manager will be out of tox~a and unavailable between
August 6 and August 10, 2007. ]-he City Manager will be on vacation and the Assistant will be
attending the Berkley Executive Seminar for Local Government Leaders.
Article IV, Section{ 9 of the City Charter provides in relevant part that "[i]n the absence.., of the
city manager and the assistant cib, manager.., the council shall appoint a city manager pro tern
who shall possess the powers and discharge the duties of the city manager during such absence..
As Director of Administrative Services, Carl Yeats has the knowledge and skills to serve as City
Manager Pro Tern during the time that both the Cib~ Manager and Assistant City Manager are
unavailable.
RESOURCE IMPACTS
The appointmem of a Ciu; Manager Pro Tern will have no resource impact on the City.
