HomeMy WebLinkAbout1997-09-15 City Council (23)TO: FROM: City City of Pale Alto Manager’s Report HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL CITY MANAGER DEPARTMENT: Planning and Community Environment 5 AGENDA DATE: September 15, 1997 CMR:38!:97 SUBJECT:APPEAL BY THOMAS SCOT’g, CAMBRIDGE MANAGEMENT COMPANY, OF THE DECISION ON AN ARCHITECTURAL REVIEW BOARD (ARB)~ APPLICATION FOR THE CREEKSIDE INN AT 3400 EL CAMINO REAL (97-ARB-60) RECOMMENDATION No action is required by City Council. The applicant has requested that the application (97- ARB-60) be withdrawn (letter attached). EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The Creekside Inn, located at the northwest comer of El Camino Real and Matadero Avenue, proposed to replace an existing trash/recycling area near Matadero Avenue. The application was approved by the Architectural Review Board (ARB) and appealed by a neighbor to the site. The appeal was placed on the Council agenda of June 9, 1997. Prior to Council action on. the appeal, the applicant submitted a new application (97-ARB-157) with the trash enclosure located in an existing landscape area between the Fresco Restaurant and the Driftwood Market fronting on E1 Camino Real. This application was approved by the ARB on June 19, 1997 and by the Director on June 25, 1997. Since the design and location have been resolved, the applicant has requested the original application be withdrawn. No further action is necessary. L A Staff does not recommend any alternatives, since this issue has been resolved to the satisfaction of all parties. ~AL IMPA_C_T There are no fiscal impacts associated with this project. We were able to work out an agreement with our neighbors who had taken issue with the original propose~t location, and we subsequently filed a new application for an enclosure site on El Camino Real which was acceptable to these neighbors.
