RECOMMENDATIONS Staff recommends Council adopt the attached ordinance amending Palo Alto Municipal Code 22.04, prohibiting alcohol consumption at E1 Palo Alto Park. POLICY IMPLICATIONS This ordinance is consistent with established policy prohibiting alcohol consumption at certain designated pat’ks. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY At the meeting of May 5, 1997, Council adopted an ordinance prohibiting the consumption of alcohol at Timothy Hopkins, Scott and Robles Parks. At that time, Council directed that, because E1 Palo Alto Park was contiguous to Hopkins Park, an alcohol consumption ordinance should be enacted for that location as well. While there have not been any alcohol-related calls for service or complaints from. that area in the last two years, staff concurs that the close proximity to Hopkins Park makes this action desirable as a preventive measure. Per Council direction, Community Selvices staff has sent out letters (see attached) to other neighborhood, associations inquiring about any concerns they might have related to alcohol usage in parks in their specific areas.
